Why are you sponsoring the Purple Umbrella Awards?

Caterer.com are delighted to sponsor the Purple Umbrella Awards. In a tough market that is experiencing an industry-wide skills gap investment in apprenticeships and future talent is crucial.

The opportunity to complete an apprenticeship at any age or point in your life is so important as it not only encourages young people into the hospitality industry, but also unlocks more choice and opportunities for someone who may be looking for a career change later in life.

We are proud to support all the incredible work that Purple Umbrella do to support the rising talent across hospitality apprentices. It’s exactly what the industry needs.  Congratulations to all those shortlisted!

Why are apprenticeships important?

Apprenticeships are a great way to earn whilst you learn. Apprentices can earn valuable income whilst securing world-class training and qualifications at the same time. This makes the programmes much more accessible and offer a great way to upskill, and initiate or progress your career. They also provide an excellent alternative to the traditional university route.

A vast range of apprenticeships are available all over the UK, across wide range of industries and organisations, including five-star hotels, restaurants, pubs, cafes and bars. Plus, there are more being added every day.

Apprenticeships are a crucial part of the solution to tackling the hospitality skills shortage. All organisations are encouraged to offer apprenticeships in order to build their future workforce, nurture their growth and development, and drive greater retention.
