At Umbrella Training, apprenticeships should spark change that reaches far beyond education. Every new learner creates a ripple of impact. For every new apprentice that starts with us, we donate £35 to three remarkable charities: Hospitality Action, Be Inclusive Hospitality, and The Felix Project. These organisations champion mental health, equality, inclusion, and the fight against food insecurity. Values that mirror our mission and the heartbeat of our industry.
This initiative drives social mobility, uplifts underrepresented voices, and helps build a fairer, thriving society. Learning shouldn’t stop at the classroom door; it should transform communities. That’s why when we host the Purple Umbrella Awards, a celebration of excellence of our Apprentices, we also raise vital funds for our three charities that support our shared vision: doing business for good.

We live and breathe hospitality. All of our team come from extensive hospitality backgrounds with a passion for learning at the heart of everything we do.
Founded in 2012 by Adele Oxberry to create meaningful and profitable training for the hospitality sector, Umbrella Training is widely known throughout the hospitality businesses in the UK as an outstanding provider of apprenticeships, having supported over 4500 apprentices in our time.
Winning the Princess Royal Training Awards in 2020 and 2023 as providers of outstanding education shows our dedication and impact on our learner’s development and careers.
GETTING TECHY! 👾
We offer three exciting Commis Chef immersive learning scenarios in a Metaverse format, with Metaverse Learning opening up a new way to learn skills inside a professional kitchen.
We have five arcade-style games to play in our apprentice arcade. Great for getting the next generation of apprentices excited about a career in hospitality!
We use ‘Bud’ our e-portfolio platform to track and support our learners. It is the best end-to-end platform built to support independent training providers, universities, colleges and employers, to deliver apprenticeships and skills training.
Umbrella Training has achieved a ‘GOOD’ grade in our latest Ofsted inspection.
OUR LEARNERS
Our digital learning platform makes tracking progress easy, our skills coaches are passionate and caring experts in hospitality, and our tailored programme delivery is just some of the reasons why apprentices love learning with us!
We deliver Functional Skills for those who need additional learning support in maths and English.
Our blended delivery approach of face-to-face workshops, virtual classrooms, industry event trips and membership to AOA, means we have something to offer every learner.
Our learner surveys tell us we are doing things right, but of course, there is always more to do! We always listen to our learners and employers to make sure we keep doing it right.

RECRUITMENT AND RELATIONSHIPS
We offer support to businesses with recruitment needs with our specialised department of Umbrella Employ. We are out and about meeting future apprentices at career fairs, attending local and national career exhibitions and other industry events.
We fully support the Hospitality industry and sponsor industry events such as Best Places to Work Hospitality UK, The Cateys and Be Inclusive Hospitality Spotlight Awards.
We also make sure to support our key industry charities like Hospitality Action, Felix Project and Be Inclusive Hospitality.
