Hospitality Zone at Skills London to use technology to inspire careers

A collective of hospitality organisations have teamed up to use the latest technology to inspire the next generation of recruits about the wonderful careers in hospitality during Skills London 2018 (23 and 24 November 2018).

Skills London is the UK’s biggest jobs and careers event for 15-24 year olds, and the hospitality zone, led by elite hospitality apprenticeship provider, Umbrella Training, will be interactive and engaging and will showcase careers to attendees. Umbrella Training recently won the Springboard Award for Excellence for the best use of Digital Media to Attract Talent and will build on their experience for this year’s event.

The biggest draw within the zone will be the Virtual Reality Hotel, which will allow visitors to explore a variety of employers and their respective departments, and give attendees the opportunity to learn about a range of career and apprenticeship options across the hospitality sector.

Representatives from Umbrella Training, The Ritz London, Red Carnation Hotels, Firmdale Hotels, The Goring, Royal Garden Hotel, Georgian House Hotel, Hotel Café Royal, The Strand Palace, Hyatt, Park Plaza, Sarova Hotels and RAF Club will be on hand to answer any questions and share their experiences of working in this vibrant sector.Over the course of two days, 2,000 individuals will be expected to experience the VR Hotel https://www.umbrellatraining.co.uk/latest-news/skills-london-2/ along with an Instagram Social Wall with a Hologram Chefs Hat, a Hospitality Quiz using touch-screen technology and a gateway to careers in hospitality guide.

Sam Coulstock FIH, Business Relations Director at Umbrella Training, said: “It will be great to see hospitality represented so brilliantly at Skills London in 2018. By bringing together some of the industry’s most well-known brands, we will be able to showcase the vast opportunities our sector offers and inspire those visiting with the achievements and stories from some of the teams from our employer partners.”Skills London will be held on 23 and 24 November 2018 at ExCel London. It is London’s biggest jobs and careers event and attracts over 30,000 visitors and 200 exhibitors. The key to Skills London’s success is the high level of interactivity exhibitors use to engage with the visitors. Visitors can sample the different career roles on offer in a fun and inspiring environment.

By engaging visitors with focused taster activities exhibitors gain access to London’s future workforce; inspiring them, entertaining them and most importantly informing them face-to-face about the career routes and job opportunities available. The all abilities/all ambitions approach delivers visitor diversity. Visitors seek apprenticeships, training, jobs and college and university courses.
