Kickstart scheme extended to March 2022

Umbrella Training are delighted to announce that the kickstart scheme has been extended until March 2022.

We are here to help employers access funding whilst strategically building sustainable recruitment and bespoke training programmes for the hospitality industry that boost retention and staff engagement across England, Wales and Scotland.

Secure your funding!

The Kickstart Scheme, which was launched in September 2020 as part of the UK’s recovery strategy, is a £2.5billion employment programme NOW running until March 2022, creating thousands of new jobs for young people.

The scheme, which is designed to create new job placements for 16 to 24 year-olds on Universal Credit who are at risk of long term unemployment, offers employers the chance to recruit new team members whilst covering their costs.

Employers of all sizes can apply for funding which covers:

  • 100% of the National Minimum Wage (or the National Living Wage depending on the age of the participant) for 25 hours per week for a total of six months

  • Associated employer National Insurance contributions

  • Employer minimum automatic enrolment contributions

  • A grant of £1,500 per job placement for setup costs, support and training

What is the Kickstart Scheme?

It is six month paid work placements for young people on universal credit covering national minimum wage for 25 hours per week.

With Umbrella Training you will receive a free onboarding pack in addition to information on optional training programmes to accelerate your Kickstarters learning and development.

You receive a £1,500 grant to cover training and set up costs and the placement can be moved onto an apprenticeship at any time.

We can help you maximise grants and government funding, by progressing your Kickstarters onto apprenticeships and working with you to create bespoke training programmes that are suited to your organisation.

Life changing

opportunities

We are already hearing of how the scheme is creating life-changing opportunities, highlighting how taking part in the programme can add huge value to all involved.

The process is simple and we support our employers every step of the way with personalised advice and guidance throughout the recruitment process.

We complete the administrative requirements on their behalf, offer a free onboarding pack, and provide optional training programmes to accelerate the Kickstarters.

We don’t want the opportunities to stop there and we are encouraging employers to move Kickstarters onto apprenticeships when their placements end.
