Umbrella Training appoints Sam Coulstock as Executive Director ofGrowth & Partnerships

Umbrella Training is delighted to announce the appointment of Sam Coulstock as its new Executive Director of Growth & Partnerships, reinforcing its commitment to driving innovation, building strong industry relationships, and delivering outstanding apprenticeship and training outcomes across the UK.

In his new role, Sam will lead the strategic development and expansion of Umbrella Training’s apprenticeship and commercial training portfolio, ensuring exceptional outcomes for learners, employers, and stakeholders. As a key member of the executive leadership team, he will also play a central role in shaping the organisation’s long-term strategy, culture, and impact.

Sam brings with him a wealth of experience across the hospitality, education, and training sectors. His career began as an apprentice chef at the age of 16, before progressing rapidly through management roles, including Restaurant & Bars Manager at 19 and Food & Beverage Director for a family-run London hotel.

Over the years, he has held several senior positions that have shaped the future of hospitality training and skills development, including working as an NVQ Assessor at Hospitality Plus; spending 13 years with The Springboard Charity and Springboard UK Ltd in roles such as Careers Director, Customer Relationship Director, and Head of Special Projects; serving as Non-Executive Director and later Business Relations Director at Umbrella Training; leading as Head of Professional Development at the Institute of Hospitality; and founding Inspired Community Group CIC in 2020, a social enterprise created to inspire future career journeys.

Sam’s achievements have also been recognised through the prestigious Acorn Awards, celebrating rising talent in the hospitality industry.

On his new appointment at Umbrella Training, Sam comments:
