On 30 September 2025, Umbrella Training, in partnership with Caterer.com, brought together leading hospitality employers and industry stakeholders for a strategic roundtable on the future of apprenticeships. The resulting Purple Paper captures the key insights, challenges, and opportunities discussed from the potential of shorter Level 2 programmes and the creation of a Level 5 Departmental Manager apprenticeship, to the value of a facilitator-led delivery model. This forward-thinking paper offers a clear roadmap for reform and innovation designed to strengthen the hospitality workforce of the future.
