PR: Post Apprenticeship Recognition Scheme (PARS) Launched: Umbrella Training Leads the Way

London, UK - February 15, 2024 - Umbrella Training, a leading hospitality provider of apprenticeship programs, proudly announces its participation in the pilot phase of the ground-breaking Post Apprenticeship Recognition Scheme (PARS), launched by the Chartered Institute for Further Education in collaboration with the Association of Apprentices. As part of this initiative, two apprentices from Umbrella Training have become two of the first sixteen nationally recognised apprentices under the scheme.

PARS aims to acknowledge the distinctive educational path provided by apprenticeships and the essential skills and qualities they foster, irrespective of level or occupational field. By recognising the value of apprenticeships, the scheme aims to enhance retention and success rates within the apprenticeship system, particularly in sectors such as hospitality where retention rates traditionally lag behind other industries.

Apprentices recognised through the scheme can use post-nominals that correspond to the level of their apprenticeship.

  • CSA (Certificate of Standard Apprenticeship)– level 2

  • CAA (Certificate of Advanced Apprenticeship) – level 3

  • CHA (Certificate of Higher Apprenticeship) – level 4

  • CGA (Certificate of Graduate Apprenticeship) – level 5

Umbrella Training is pleased to announce that two apprentices; one from Home Grown Hotels and the other an Umbrella junior director, have been awarded prestigious certificates under PARS: the Certificate of Higher Apprenticeship (CHA) has been awarded to Zakaria Bentaleb (on the right Image) and the Certificate of Advanced Apprenticeship (CAA) awarded to Marshall Bax – Assistant Restaurant Manager – The PIG at Bridge Place (on the left image). This recognition underscores the commitment of both apprentices and employers to the apprenticeship journey and the development of crucial skills within the hospitality sector.

"We are thrilled to be at the forefront of the Post Apprenticeship Recognition Scheme," said Adele Oxberry, CEO of Umbrella Training.

"This initiative highlights the significance of apprenticeships in nurturing talent and fostering essential skills for our industry. The recognition received by our apprentices underscores the dedication of both the apprentices and their employers to advancing their careers and contributing to the growth of the hospitality sector."

"As the People Director of Home-Grown Hotels, I am delighted to see our apprentices recognised through the Post Apprenticeship Recognition Scheme,” said Steve Rockey. “This accreditation is crucial for both the hospitality industry and our business as it highlights the value of apprenticeships in developing the skills and talents essential for success in our sector. By participating in this scheme, we are not only celebrating the achievements of our apprentices but also reaffirming our commitment to developing talent and fostering excellence within our organisation and the wider hospitality community."

Employers such as the BBC, Amazon and BT involved in the pilot phase of PARS have expressed enthusiasm for the scheme, with expectations of submitting further applications for their apprentices upon the scheme's full launch in the summer. The involvement of industry leaders like Home Grown Hotels and Umbrella Training showcases a collective commitment to elevating apprenticeships and recognising the valuable contributions of apprentices to the workforce.
