The Association of Apprentices is delighted to invite you to our April 2024 Masterclass – Speak with Impact: How to prepare for and deliver an outstanding TEDx talk. 

Like anything, skills can be learnt, and greater skills mean greater confidence.  Public speaking is no different.

This 90 minute masterclass, led by Erica Farmer, Business Director for Quantum Rise Talent Group and TEDx speaker, will provide you with the steps and insight to make your public speaking as good as you want it to be! You’ll have skills to take away and practice, an idea of how your passion can translate into a speaking experience, and the 3 foundational points any great talk has.  This will include;

• The top skills you need to feel confident.

• The importance of a great structure starting with a great hook.

• Why using a story helps you to stand out.

• What speakers do to land a TEDx.

• Practical tools to take away and try straight away.

*Important homework : Prior to the session, watch a few talks – no matter what the content – and pick the one you think is the best. Then write a list of 3 things to why you think that. Bring the list to the session.

In this 60 minute clinic, led by experts Lee Reddington and Hollie Nasralla you will discover:

• How to determine the knowledge, skills, and behaviours (KSBs) that must be addressed.

• How to properly scope the project.

A butchery class is a fantastic way to get excited about the enormous cuts of meat laid out on butchers’ blocks, the wisdom of hanging meat, and how to portion, slice and cook the perfect dishes for the different and varied cuts of different proteins.

To boost confidence, skills and behaviour in order to positively sell over the phone and in face to face situations. The session will develop a basic understanding of the core principles of sales. Ideal to anyone new to a sales role with little experience. Relevant for new reservationists, receptionists and waiters etc.

• To agree on selecting candidate through searching their CV

You will be given a grand tour of the site and an in-depth introduction to the history of cheese making and the many processes involved in churning out award winning cheese.

Yes! Harvey and Brockless are award winning cheese makers, providing cheeses to many of the top hotels and restaurants in the country, holding £4 million worth of stock at any one time.

Be prepared to get maxed out on the many varieties of cheese they have on offer. During your tour you will see how some of the cheeses are made, stored and even made ready for sale, with techniques such grating, slicing and portioning in large quantities.
