Since 2000 and after leaving senior management in the hospitality sector, Adele has been working in the work based learning sector, starting with a national training company as an assessor to now owning this little company supporting some very elite employers with their apprenticeship programmes…

More about Adele...
In 2006, Adele was one of the key personnel who founded a well known national provider not only with a small financial investment but also with direct involvement in writing bids. Adele headed the London region which was the first region to gain a direct contract with the Learning and Skills Council. Initially at the start, London was a “one woman show” to being a region in 2012 with a workforce of over 68. Both strategically and operationally, Adele developed the region which sat as the highest performing region for just over 6 years.

Adele has a real passion for Apprenticeships and the opportunities they bring to young people. Umbrella is fortunate to work with some very good employers who can luckily “sing from the same hymn sheet” in up skilling their workforce and who have the desire to have real ownership of an effective Apprenticeship programme.

Adele says: “Umbrella has been established to ensure that we get Apprenticeships right for our employers who in the past have had poor experiences. We are not like the rest and we will make a difference to your business. Currently we are partners in the Hospitality SME consortium for Trailblazers and lead as a provider for this group. Our mission is to make our apprentices and our employers “stand out from the rest” with professional, expert and quality advice and guidance. I know we can make a difference to your apprenticeship programme”

More about Jamal...

Jo has been dreaming up development programmes for elite businesses in the hospitality industry for over a decade.

Jo came to the UK from Serbia in 2004 to study Marketing & Management. All her career and life plans changed during her internship with a London based management consultancy in 2005. She realised that developing people, seeing them grow, seeing them gain confidence and the skills needed to further their careers was her calling.

She sees her work as a vocation, rather than just a job. She will talk your ear off about people development and the importance of approaching it strategically.

More about Jo...
Jo started her career with ‘Training for Change’ in 2005 as a Marketing Consultant. In 2006 she moved to ‘The Learning Academy’ as a Management Consultant. She worked her way up to Operations Director position in 2010 and after 10 years at ‘The Learning Academy’ decided she was ready for a different kind of a challenge. Jo designed management and customer service development programmes at all levels for numerous 5-star hotels including Firmdale Hotels, Claridge’s, The Connaught, The Savoy and Brown’s Hotel. She also worked with prominent businesses in retail (Jack Wills, Harvey Nichols), housing (Richmond Housing Partnership) & manufacturing industry (MME Engineering).

Jo is passionate about her own development and completed her MSc in Organisational Psychology at Birkbeck College researching ethical challenges in learning and development within the hospitality industry. She is an experienced IQA with a great track record with the Institute of Leadership & Management and other awarding organisations.

Umbrella Training is supporting Jo in her research endeavours and she will shortly commencing her PhD at Birkbeck College exploring the value of apprenticeship degrees in comparison to academic degrees.

Jo joined Umbrella Training in January 2018 as Head of Programmes. Jo designs bespoke development solutions and she works closely with all our clients to ensure that every solution makes an impact on business outcomes. She also works on developing, coaching and inspiring our amazing team of Learning & Development Managers.
